Great models!

Btw, the link for car making tutorials:
http://www.streetrod3.com/auxsoft/modelling.htm

Tutorials are ok, even I figured out a lot about car making...

I would appreciate if you try to learn this...

Thanks Nitro! All of these zips have .x and .3ds files. The .3ds files are much smaller, so I hope we can get them to work! I'll check out the tutorials tonight. :)

Here's a VERY simple vinyl-type rain/sun tent. 250 Polygons/1 texture. :D

David, Do you have any instant messenger?

It would be easier to comunicate if you can get ICQ or MSN messenger!

Hi Nitro,

I will download ICQ this week. I went to the tutorial webpage, but nothing would download. Just for practice, I made this tonight. It's about 2500 polygons and is a very generic one! :D

Hopefully I'll master it within a week or two. (or more)

Hi Nitro,

I looked at the tutorials and they do seem easy enough. I've had a total of about 3 hours in the last 3 days to do anything outside of work. I have found a way to make extremely low polygon vehicles using an extruded spline and two boolean extractions. The example below is only 800 polygons and took about 15 minutes to complete. The texture looks bad because it is from the blueprint I used as a reference. As you can see, a really good texture would make even this very low poly model work. I'll keep working on it!

Here's a possible static prop for the sideline or starting line. A trailer with vehicle (the same Celica model as above). 1936 polygons/1 texture

Here's a very low-poly Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII. 1036 polys/2 textures. I'm still learning how to make car models, but we may use these for testing or Level-of-Detail pieces. I'll leave the professional stuff to Meshman for now!

Meshman, nice!
But there's no need to go for such a low polycount...

Hi Dino!

Thanks man. :D

I've been using Max for years, but mostly for animation. I am just learning how to do modeling. I will keep at it!

Here's a Yugo I made for practice. It came out pretty good since it's not very curved in real life! The texture is from the blueprint. 900 Polygons/1 texture. :D

Hi David,
First, WOW, I had to say that!
Now, can you give us that Yugo model (I want to test it in the game), it looks the same as real one ;) good job

You've been very diligent! (I don't know is this the right word)
When I saw what you done in last few days while I was gone, it was like this smiley :shocked2: !

I need a favor (some cool camera movement for gs logo), only if it's easy to move the camera around...can I spit out my idea?

Edi.

Hi Edi and Igor!

Thanks so much for the great compliments!!

Here's an update of the Yugo with a colored texture and a zip file of the mesh. I am NOT good at Photoshop!! 600 Polygons/1 texture. :D

This is a re-make of the RV. It's higher in polygons because I couldn't find a good texture to fill in the details. 4700 Polygons. :D

A slightly detailed Lotus Esprit. This is still in the very-low polygon area, but I'm learning how to put more detail into the mesh without using a texture. 1000 Polygons. :D

This is a WIP (work-in-progress) of a Lancer Evo VI. The process is 1 extruded line that uses a boolean intersection of another profile line to create the entire body in less than 5 minutes. The headlights, windows and detailed body shape take longer. This way is still relatively low in polygons. 2044 Polygons. :D

This is a new WIP of the Mustand Shelby GT500. This was done from scratch using a blueprint. This version would not have to rely on texturing for details when completed. I'll keep at it! 4850 Polygons. :D

Thanks Nitro!

The low-poly stuff I can now make in about 10 mintutes each. The medium-poly, low-texture models (like these vans) take about an hour to make. The Shelby GT500 will be high-poly but less than 8,000 polys total...I hope! ;)

Here's the police van... 1900 Polygons. :D

I agree

mmm...sweet, lot's of objects to play with :) I have 17 models to test, lot's of work, jupi!

And for that GSlogo animation:
- planets more distanced
- camera starts from Sun's position (sun not visible)
- camera passes near Mercury (only if you have the texture, really red)
- camera passes near Venus (-//-)
- camera passes near Earth and moon (near left side of the earth and suddenly to the right side to avoid the moon)
- camera slows down and gets real near the Mars, drives 180deg around the Mars, and keeps going in reverse. In the same time we see that GS logo you already made.. camera slows down and stops when GSLogo aligns with screen edges.. and yes, we see Sun in behind (where we started with camera movement) (add another light source for mars to look like in previous animation)
(GS Logo not visible while going towards Mars)

I hope you understand what I meant
