How to take care of the upgrades, damage to car, fixing etc...

Can we do it like in Death Rally? In the menu you upgrade the car with this and that, but that is not visible in the game? What upgrades would be "this and that".

I think the upgrades, the damage, the fixing, new upgrades, new cars, are affecting the gameplay in every aspect.

No comment on this topic? Can we, and will we have upgrades in our game? My suggestion is that the best and the easiest way to do it...is the way I said in last post.

What are your thoughts?

Not really, this is not a circuit racing :| but cool idea anyway ;)

> What upgrades would be "this and that".
Hmm, if we decide to enable the upgrades we're gonna have many problems afterwards. For example; if we enable to buy a new engine or something non-visible (interior) - we would need to draw and make the difference in driving the cars..bah i don't know what i'm saying :P

Listen, I though this game will depend on player's skill - bigger addictiveness .. what do you think?

Nope... In the menu, you upgrade the car, but in game you don't see the changes. Like in Death Rally....thats what I was thinking. I think that the whole upgrade, repair, buy new stuff would increase addictiveness.

Ok, repair > what to repair? The only upgrade may only be nitro or some other thing more practical... :|

I think that is enough to put cars with best performance, i don't think that there should be any repairing because we would just complicate game. For the first version it's enough to have tournament stats.
Then, if this game would be popular we can make second version with whole city to drive, and more statistics with upgrading (engine power, nitro, brakes, exaust, spoilers)

Hm, I agree too, but I think that this stuff (upgrade, fixing, etc) will make SR very interesting. Of course this include more programming. But there's a little problem. Some cars are better then other and they will win always. That makes this game very uninteresting. That's why we must use this stuff (upgrading, fixing, etc). Off course only stuff which don't see in game.

Yes Miskec, you're absolutely wright. I, also think that this increases gameplay. And please people....download Death Rally (or Nitro Racers!!)so you can see what I am talking about. All the upgrading (visual, and technical) is done in the menu.

The changes are not visible (visualy) in the game, but the car goes faster, or has better brakes. If this is to much of a work(programming), then I understand, but if not....well I think this would change the game dramaticly.

You also can download game "Garage to glory".

Not always, for winning you have to make perfect shifting and right moment to use nitro
And we can make that enemies use nitro in random times, or something like that

Yes, but Renualt 5 is always better then Yugo. I think that we must include upgrade and fixing and other stuff. This game is small but it must be interesting

Yes, but Renualt 5 is always better then Yugo.

That is not true ;). It will not be known how are those cars tuned, so any engine can be in any car. Upgrades and fixing are not neccessary, though game would be more interesting that way.

That's the reason why we made that class-es in car list, because there is diference betwen class 1 and class 2 car, but all cars in one class are almost same power&speed :D

almost same is not same

But that's the reason why you have to shift gears perfectly and use nitro in right moment :D

We can always limit horse break power (PS) on maps so not all cars can participate (same way is done in GT). lets say competition maps like :
no.1: Lightweigh ~65 PS (Yugo)
no.2: Mediumweight ~110 PS (Renault)
no.3: Heavyweight ~230 PS etc.. (Mazda)

Do you know what i mean by that?
Please note, i pick names of cars freely and their engine power might not be true.

Zola, I totally understand you! Only thing I would like to explain PS stands for Horse Power right?

And when you want to submit a race that outranks you car class...the voice from above says..."Hold on petrol brain!!"

Yes, it is short from deutch Pferdestaerke. PS is no longer a lawful unit, but is still commonly used in Europe, South America and Japan, especially by the automotive and motorcycle industry. It was adopted throughout continental Europe with designations equivalent to the English "horse power", but mathematically different from the British unit.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?1 PS = 75 kp?m/s = 735.49875 W = 0.9863201652997627 hp

So, we can say 1 PS = ~ 1 HP

kp stand for the force exerted by one kilogram of mass in standard Earth gravity (defined as exactly 9.80665 m/s?). Btw, i noticed you use wright instead right. Wright is something different :D

 Nice that you started the process of making the game.
I'm new here, so could you describe me, what conseption and game-range, are you trying to put in this game. Will it be concurent for some **** little game like Hot-Rod or concurent to Nfs. :eh: Maybe, after your thoughts on this question, i can help with some ideas!

I'm sure that you can find everything that you want on this forum, but I'll tell you anyway :). It will be drag race, you'll need skill to shift gears and to do it in right timing and stuff.
Welcome to our forum  .

Mmm, let me rephrase my question. You are trying to build a good racing game, or a game which people would play for a week and then forget? :naughty:

Well, that's a silly question :).
Off course we'll do our best to make it unforgettable.

I read all the ideas, and i find them not so good for the moment. If you won't have no upgrades (engine, visual etc..) => game fogetable.
You have changing visuals of the cars => plus for the game
You start game with stock cars => plus for you
If you know the tuning life, it won't be hard for you to understand me.
Player should feel himself, like new member to the extreme lifestyle of gas, nitro, music and racing, player should over live the process from the start till the highest point of it.
If you have this conseption you are the winner, if not, the game will be forgetable, believe me.

I understand you, but I'm not a car fan.
What we have in our minds is game not too complicated, but with very adictive gameplay.

From my point of you, we will see in future another remix of some racing game. Addictive is Nfs, and i think you may sit half a year programming something complicated for you, but interesting then in the game play. And
it will become a hit. And i don't see no scense in a simple little game. I can easyly buy Nfs(as other people around the world).
P.S. don't think i'm some Bad guy who wants to criticise your ideas. i only try to help you.

I agree with everything you said, but you have to know that this is our first 3d project, and we will try our best to make it the best way we can. We know the tuning life, and we know many people who are crazy tuners.
